A student who misses 10% or more of their school days, which averages to just two days a month, for any reason, is considered chronically absent. Every absence, excused or unexcused, is a learning opportunity lost.
Chronically absent students are more likely to fall behind academically and less likely to graduate from high school. Pleasant Valley is addressing chronic absenteeism with attendance initiatives.
200 Club:
Five names are drawn every day to join the club. Students must be present to receive a small certificate, an attendance bracelet, and a Brown's Stay in the Game sign. All club members get another prize when our 200 Club board is full.
